Wise county consolidations

We understand that's the case. However, I for one, am voicing my opinion that I wish that 3 new schools was the option being presented.

Absolutely no reason to operate 6 high schools in a county with a population of less than 45K.

Apparently Mrs. Craft is quoted wrong then. I thought i read where she said hopefully we will have 3 new schools?
I take the word new to be New not renovated.

I'm for it, because it's going to save 2.5 million dollars...I know 31 jobs are going to be lost, but there is a whole other world outside of wise county. i would say that 50% of the people who live in Wise county have never crossed county lines...anyways, back to the subject at hand...consolidation is a necessity because these three schools house 200 students or under right? think of the coal that has to be burnt in the furnaces each winter to heat those 150 kids, or air conditioning costs to cool off 150 kids...it's just not cost efficient...i can see where you all are coming from with the whole identity thing, but it's just school...it's not that big of a deal...you go to school to learn, not to have a good time, although you do most of the time...i think that's what people have forgotten...the learning aspect of school...they're too worried about sports and the like...friends and such...i saw a woman in the coalfield who was quoted something like "i was raised a bulldog, am a bulldog, and will die a bulldog...the lady looked to be over 40...come on...get a freakin life...i've said this before in an earlier post on another of the consolidation topics, grow up...it's just a school...it's not your family that they're moving...it's a high school which you went to...most people hate high school..."but oh it's the sports" you know, whoopadeedooo, i went to coeburn, and played 3 sports...i'm not a blue knight...i am a highland cavalier and after this semester, i'll be nothing sports wise...i see 45 year old men going to football games in their letterman jacket...and that is freaking sad...grow up...this county is so backwards that any sort of change is out of the question...i just don't get it....the coal isn't going to last much longer folks and we have got to educate these kids so they can leave here and get a good job...and this can't be done at the schools that exist...technology evolves so rapidly, it's hard for the school board to fund each school with new equipment every year...i think all the schools need to be shut down and one superschool should be formed in wise...right in the center of the county...if that's not possible, then i think Basham's plan is a go...now don't get me wrong, i don't like half of the people on that school board...

how old are you? probably 16, think you know everything....you don't...that's all you speak of is pride...and who you're going to school with....life doesn't let you choose who you work for or who you work with....you are at school to learn...you'll make new friends...what do you think college is like? it's a new school....some of your friends merged with other people from other schools....you get along with them don't you?
